The Riverland Golf Association Development Program is dedicated to growing the game of golf throughout our region by creating opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to experience, enjoy and become involved in golf. Through the generous support of our local business sponsors, participating golf clubs and community partners, the program helps deliver junior golf development, school coaching, holiday programs, inclusive golf experiences and initiatives that connect golf with sectors of our community that may otherwise have limited opportunities to access the game. From introducing school students to golf and supporting talented junior players to providing welcoming experiences for people with disabilities, Aboriginal community members and other groups, our focus is on making golf accessible, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone. Sponsorship plays a vital role in providing equipment, coaching resources, participation opportunities and community events, ensuring that funds raised deliver meaningful outcomes across the Riverland. ○ All Abilities Coaching session open to all through Support and Connect, this program opens up opportunities for some who otherwise might not be able to or are reluctant to for different reasons to have a go and potentially see if they enjoy golf.
○ SA Aboriginal Golf Club session, a program designed to provide access to our local Aboriginal community, with the session setup for fun and to further engage members of our community who might not get an opportunity or even feel they are not welcome in the game to come along and have a great time!
○ RIV Golf our open to all have a go group coaching session, with new equipment and handouts for the participants to enjoy.
○ 2027 we hope to introduce a Riverland Emergency Services Golf Day, an opportunity for the golfing community to say thank you to the emergency services community for all they do on the front line and continue the growth of our game by engaging more people who otherwise may not get access to enjoy a game of golf in their normal day to day life.
○ SAPSASA Golf Day improvements – 43 participants
○ High School Ambrose Championships event – we were able to provide some prizes. 110 participants on the day.
○ Allan Telford Cup Squad – a squad of 22 enjoyed trainings in the lead up to the state country championships and our team ended up winning!!
○ Individual Allan Telford Cup funding to assist families with travel costs to Port Augusta
○ Schools Expo presence for golf with exposure of golf to primary and high schools throughout the Riverland region.
○ General schools coaching increase in 2026 with 6 more schools coming onboard to the program
○ Improved School holidays and term coaching programs with new equipment and handouts for the participants to enjoy.
○ We have also forged a relationship with the Glenelg Golf Club with their kids coming up to the Riverland in 2025 and our group returning to visit Glenelg in the October Holidays in 2026. This is a great opportunity not only for our junior golfers ongoing but also to spread the word about our ever improving golf facilities in the Riverland.
